THE SIMS 3: CREATE A WORLD

PLEASE NOTE If you vày not have Steam and/or The Sims 3 installed lớn the default location you will need lớn alter the “Install Dir” and “ExePath” lines of code to lớn show the correct path! If you are not sure of the correct path please go to the third section of this guide titled Help.

After pasting the code inkhổng lồ notepad và making any necessary changes go to File->Save sầu as at the top left.

Make note of where you are saving the file lớn, then at the bottom of the ‘Save as’ box that comes up, change ‘Save as type’ to lớn ‘All Files’, give sầu your file a name then change the .txt extension lớn .reg as shown in the picture below & hit save sầu.

Now you should be able khổng lồ install the Create a World Tool on your PC. You are half way there.

If you receive an error accessing the registry at this point, please go to lớn the bottom of the Help section in this guide.

Getting the installed tool to lớn see your Sims 3 content

So now you have the Create a World Tool installed on your PC but if you try to run it you will get an error saying that it can’t find your Sims 3 content after which it closes without starting.

To fix this you need to make another addition khổng lồ the Windows registry.

This time you need to lớn go lớn Start at the bottom left of your desktop, type RegEdit inlớn the search box then hit Enter on your keyboard to bring up the Registry Editor.

For Windows 7 32 bit;

HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE

For Windows 7 64 bit;

Scroll down to lớn find the Sims(Steam) file in the expanded menu (chú ý there is an Electronic Arts thư mục which when expanded shows another Sims(Steam) file – this is NOT the file you want)

Right clichồng on the Sims(Steam) folder và select Export as shown below.

In the Export Registry File popup box, make a note of which folder on your PC ‘Save sầu In’ says it will save the tệp tin lớn. Then give sầu your tệp tin a name and change ‘Save sầu as type’ lớn “Win9x/NT4 Registration Files (*.reg)” and hit Save sầu.

Now go to the location where that file was saved, right cliông chồng on the file and select ‘mở cửa with -> Notepad’

Go to lớn Edit -> Replace at the top left, then in the box that comes up – in the Find What: searchbox type Sims(Steam) và in the Replace: search box type Sims, then select ‘Replace All’ và save sầu.

Now go back to lớn the Registry Editor và go lớn File->Import at the top left. Find the registry file that you just edited and import it by selecting ‘open’.

The Create a World tool should now work for you with the Steam version of Sims 3.

Error Accessing the registry.

Additional Information

As I said at the beginning, I have sầu followed the steps outlined in this guide và now have sầu the Create a World tool working with the Steam version of Sims 3 (I don’t have sầu a retail or Origin version of the game installed.)
